Leonard was born in 1897 at 11a Whalley Street, Peterboro, eldest child and only son of Harry and Mary Jane Woodcock.

When his parents moved to 5 Whalley Stret in the early 1920's (apparently to save 3p rent!) to moved with them.  Initially Leonard worked at the Coach and Wagon Company with his father, as a wagon repairer.

He married Beatrice Fletcher on 6th June 1927 in the Parish Church at Marholm, Peterborough.  The best man was GN Tenaglia (brother-in-law) and the bridesmaids were Miss E A Woodock (sister) and Miss F Chubby).

After getting married Leonard and Beatrice moved into 98 Eastfield Road, living there until they passed away (Peterborough Directory listings for 1940, 1952, 1963, 1965, 1967, 1969 give Leonard - as the male and head of the house - and in 1977 for Beatrice only)

They had one daughter:

Jean Woodcock who married Edward MacDonald

In 1955 they took in lodgers Masie and Patrick Gallagher whilst they found accommodation
