My immediate family

We are a fairly small and close family – my Mum and Dad, myself and my sister Alison.  Mum and Dad live in Pode Hole, Spalding,  Lincolnshire.  Mum works for a local firm of solicitors and Dad works from home as a carpenter, joiner and furniture restorer.  My Uncle Tony (Mum’s older brother) lives with Mum and Dad and works a gardener/horticulturalist locally. 

I try and get home to Spalding as often as possible – it’s an unlikely place for which I have a deep affection and love for.  Having grown up in the town from the age of 12 until I was 19 and went to University, I know it well and I don’t think you ever lose those early ties of loyalty and pride when you had such a happy childhood and education.

Alison has had what always seems to me like a glamorous career, though being in the Arts it has not attracted the remuneration she perhaps deserves.  Alison is currently working in Manchester in Public Art and seems to be thriving.  She and I are very close (though obviously we still squabble) and she is very much my big sister to whom I can turn when it all goes wrong or I feel down.  I hope the same is true for her.
